Jay Fulmer, DVM

Dr. Jay Fulmer is a 1994 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He enjoys working with small animals and has served as a veterinarian in the Lawrenceville/Buford/Dacula area since 1996. Dr. Fulmer is originally from Summerville, SC, but he has lived in Gwinnett County since 1988. He has been happily married to his wife, Beth, for 25 years. They have two sons: one is a student at Clemson University and the other attends Mountain View High School. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Fulmer is an active member of Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church, enjoys running and training for marathons, and is an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

Amy Flowers, DVM

Dr. Flowers earned her Bachelor of Science and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia. Her special interests include geriatric medicine and soft tissue surgery. She has worked with Dr. Fulmer for over 17 years. She lives in Dacula with her husband of almost 20 years and their two sons. They share their home (and hearts) with four dogs.

Vanesa Farmer, DVM

Dr. Farmer earned her Bachelor of Science at The University of Georgia and then went on to earn her Doctorate at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Farmer’s interests include dermatology and soft tissue surgery. When she is not working, she enjoys travel, hiking, and spending time with her husband and fur family.

Kim Hankamer, DVM

Dr. Hankamer attended The University Of Florida in Gainesville where she earned a Bachelor of Science and Doctorate degrees. Originally from Miami, Florida she moved to Atlanta after graduating college. In her spare time, Dr. Hankamer enjoys traveling with her husband, Bob, and spending time with family.

Kathleen Claussen, DVM

Dr. Kathleen Claussen is a 2000 graduate of Kansas State University. Dr. Claussen is originally from the south Kansas City area, having practiced there for 17 years before relocating to Georgia. She lives in the Flowery Branch area with her husband, Verne, and cat, Meow. In her spare time, Dr. Claussen enjoys traveling the world, photography, and Kansas State football (Go Wildcats!).

Beth Fulmer

Beth Fulmer works as a bookkeeper for the practice.  She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master of Public Administration degree in 1991.  She has been happily married to her husband, Dr. Jay Fulmer, for 25 years, and loves being a mom to their two sons:  Andrew and Stephen.  Beth also is an active member of Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church and enjoys travel, photography and being outdoors in her free time.

Ben is a 2002 graduate of Gwinnett Technical College with a degree as a registered technician. Ben has worked with Dr. Fulmer and Dr. Flowers since he graduated. He lives in Barrow county with his wife of 16 years and their 3 children. Ben stays busy watching his kids play baseball, softball, and basketball and he is an avid Braves fan.

Michele is originally from Albany, Georgia and went to college at Valdosta State University. She is married and has 3 children and one awesome grandson. Michele has 3 dogs; Knox (Doodleman- Pinscher), Dobbs (Labradoodle), and Bertie (Yellow Labrador). In her spare time, Michele enjoys watching football and hanging out with her family.


Tina was born and raised in the northern states. She moved to Georgia in 2009 and has loved being down here. Ever since Tina was little, she has known she always wanted to work with animals. In her free time, she enjoys taking her dogs hiking around here or out west in the mountains. She also enjoys helping shelters by bottle feeding puppies and kittens. Tina currently has 2 dogs and 3 cats, but she would adopt many more if possible!

Dania was born in North Carolina and currently resides in Hall County, Ga. She has 2 grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter, whom she adores! She has had fur babies all her life and has recently adopted her latest rescue, Lainey. Her passion is taking care of animals and her job at Hamilton Mill Animal Hospital gives her the chance to do what she loves.


Zoë was born in Florida, but she has lived in Georgia for the majority of her life. She has always had a house full of animals, which has helped fuel her love for them. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, relaxing at home, and finding new places to eat.


Chrissy is originally from upstate New York. She moved to Georgia in 2001 with her husband, Todd, and their 3 wonderful children, Harley, Todd, and Ryan. She has worked in the animal field for 15 years and loves her job! She has 3 fur babies; Daisy(13 year old black lab mix), Boobila(12 year old shih tzu), and Kyciu(4 year old domestic longhair). In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family. And, she is very excitedly awaiting her 1st grand baby in January 2020!


Kristen has lived in Buford, GA her entire life! She graduated from Animal Behavior College with a degree as a Veterinary Assistant. She has 2 dogs named Duke and Bo and she enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Maggie W.

Maggie was born and raised in Gwinnett County. She has been working here since early 2018 as a Veterinary Technician. She is in the process of earning her bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion from the University of Georgia. In her spare time, Maggie enjoys going to the lake with her boyfriend and their dog Tucker. Tucker is pictured, he is a 3 year- old Labrador/Weimaraner mix.

Jessica P

Jessica was born in Savannah but has lived in Gwinnett county the majority of her life. She has always known she had a passion for animals and wanted to be part of the veterinary field. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from The University of North Georgia and is interested in attending Vet school in the future. Outside of Veterinary medicine, Jessica enjoys camping, hiking, as well as cooking and spending time with her family and two fur babies Ruby and Scarlett.


Ashley was born in Massachusetts and raised in Georgia. She has worked at Hamilton Mill Animal Hospital since 2017 and is pursuing her Veterinary Technician degree from Gwinnett Technical College.


Stacey has found that working with animals has made a mundane life very exciting and she says working for Hamilton Mill is very fulfilling. Outside of work, Stacey enjoys binge-watching Disney movies with her four-legged sons, Jackson and Copper, and hiking with her two-legged significant other, John.


Sam has been a Veterinary Technician off and on since 2013. She has twin toddlers, Caleb and Lane; 3 furry children, Cherokee, Waylon, and Henry; and a very patient fiancé, Bailey, who enjoys the chaos. She spends her free time traveling and staying active.


Kaila was born in Buffalo, New York and moved here because she is not a big fan of the cold weather. Ever since kindergarten, she has wanted to work in the Veterinary field. In 2017, she was a receptionist for an animal hospital. She joined Hamilton Mill Animal Hospital in 2019 as a Veterinary Technician and she says, “it’s the best decision I have ever made!” Kaila also has a crazy love for German Shepherds, Huskies, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.


Guillermo was born in California but has lived in Gwinnett county most of his life. he has always known that he had a passion for animals and wanted to be part of the veterinary field. He has been working in the veterinary field for about a year now. Guillermo started working in kennel, and slowly but surely moved up to a Veterinary Assistant/Technician. Guillermo has two very loving dogs, and his oldest dog is named Maxx. He is an 8 year old Cane Corso and he is the sweetest and the laziest of the two. Guillermo recently got his 3-year-old Australian shepherd named Sydney. He is very playful and energetic. Overall Guillermo has a very lively and loving life with his two best friends.

Maggie S.

Hi, my name is Maggie. You can call me Mags for short! My passion for animals has landed me with this amazing job! I look forward to coming to work everyday to meet all the unique and amazing patients we have!


Olivia is from Los Angeles, California, but has lived in Georgia for the majority of her life. She is currently working on her Early Childhood Education degree from the University of Georgia and plans to be an elementary school teacher in the near future. She has always had a passion for animals and has worked with Hamilton Mill Animal Hospital for over a year. Outside of work and school, she loves spending time with family, friends, and her fur babies (Dixie, Smokey, Jezebel, and Flynn)!

Dev is an Athens, GA native(Go Dawgs!) who studied Spanish and International Business at GA State. She’s always had a passion for animals. So, she also went to Animal Behavior College to become a Veterinary Assistant. Dev is loved by her 2-year-old daughter Nova, 4-year-old pet daughter Marli (Shepard mix), and 8-year-old pet son Joey bag of Donuts (Pekingese). In her free time, she enjoys sewing kid’s clothes and dancing with her babies.

Triniti moved from Colorado to Georgia as a child, eventually graduating from Mill Creek High School before attending Kennesaw State University for a year. She started at HMAH June of 2020 in the kennels, and quickly moved to technician. Triniti spends her time off Spinning with Edge Independent Winterguard. She enjoys teaching high school students colorguard as well. Triniti has 2 kitty cats, Gracie and Mr. Moo, and 5 older brothers.

Jeff is a native Georgian, born and raised. He has been in the veterinary field since 2014 and his favorite breed is chihuahua. He hopes to eventually live on on near the water and enjoys fishing, swimming and being at the firing range.

Octavia (aka Anessa or Ness for short) is our resident “Croc” expert and we don’t mean the animal. You will find her wearing one of her over 15 pairs of Croc clogs, most of the time blinged out with charms. Anessa has been working in the veterinary field since 2017. We were lucky to have her join us in October of 2020. Her fur family includes Bambi, and most recently, Briscoe (aka the Chubby One), as well as two sassy kitties, Minx and Syx Black. Anessa enjoys hiking, camping, and lounging by the pool when she isn’t at the hospital helping educate clients.

I’ve never thought about my employment as a job but rather a place where I can live out my passion for pet care every day. I want our clients to know that I love your fur babies as much as you do! And, I care for all our dogs and cats as if they were my own. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, spending time with my family, and hanging out with my horses.

My name is Gloria, but you can call me Glo. I am born and raised in Jackson County. For the past few years, I have been volunteering at the Jackson County Humane Society. I recently adopted 2 fur babies named Izzy and Darby, and I rescued a precious cat named Octane. Since I was young, I have always been around animals and had a passion for them.



Christian joined HMAH Fall of 2020 after traveling the world playing soccer and skateboarding. He has been studying to become a paramedic. Christian loves that he gets to be with animals all day and seeing all the different Dogalities (Dog Personalities). When he isn’t at HMAH playing with the animals, he is either outside, camping or hiking, or hanging with Gaia, his 10 year-old Chihuahua Terrier Mix aka the Street Firecracker who only loves her Dad!



Brianna was born and raised in Georgia. She has a huge passion for animals. She is currently studying astrology and has a perfect, beautiful baby girl, named Marley, who makes her world go round.

Katrina has been grooming for 16 + years. She brings her talent and skills most recently to Hamilton Mill Animal Hospital. Grooming is an art form to her. Katrina enjoys camping and sports, especially when they involve her two-legged children. Her menagerie currently includes 13 pigs, and 6 chickens in addition to 2 dogs.

I’m Smokey- jack of all trades, master of all of them. I spend my days herding the peasants and making sure my fortress is run like a well-oiled machine. I firmly believe that you should start and end your day with a nap. Take one in between if needed. All peasants must follow my Instagram “smokeythecliniccat”. One day I shall rule the world!
